Welcome to 2018! The kids are finally back at school which makes the daily routine a much easier road to navigate!
Video is now an expectation
My thoughts on the direction of Content Marketing in 2018:
I think a greater move to video is unquestionable. With my focus on copywriting and social media, you many think that suggesting this is like shooting myself in the foot, however for every video produced, an idea, script and complementary blog post and social media to enhance the video’s reach and ROI is a not a “maybe” but a “must”. There’s no point to creating a video to share it once and then let it die a quick death on YouTube. Getting the most ROI from a video involves leveraging it as much as possible across all your digial assets. Re-purposing and re-targeting video content is exactly the same as it is for a blog post.
DIY vs Professional Video.
Over the summer holidays a friend asked me about what type of videos they should be creating. Do they invest big money in professional videos, or create short clips themselves which may not look as neat and tidy.
I suggested that both play a role in any business. Invest some money in professional videos for key products and services, then complement that video content with short videos including updates or blog post overviews you can share quickly to your blog or direct to social media. The DIY option, if planned and executed properly can provide your audience with a more personal glimpse into your business.
